An analysis of the importance of the moving image for modern photojournalists and documentary photographers.

Moving image can tell a much more in-depth and full account of the subject matter. Still images give just a snapshot of that moment in time, it can easily be interpreted in many ways depending on how the individual views it. Moving image helps you to develop your identity as a visual storyteller.
'Learning skills from across this rapidly-changing and dynamic industry from news photography and current events to conceptual documentary, editorial and multimedia.'
Moving image enables you to push the boundaries that photography cannot exceed. A picture is worth a thousand words so what is moving image worth?
It enables photojournalists and documentary photographers to enable their prospects. They are more employable due to a varied multi-media background. If you go for a job interview and there is a long list of applicants the probability is that they are going to chose the applicant with more multi-media in their profession.
Over the last 10 years moving images has had a much bigger impact on the world. Technology has grown, the internet is bigger than ever. You are able to watch videos and look at images on all types of multi-media platforms. These include: Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google, Newspapers/Magazines, Television, Broadcasting Agencies, Books, DVDs/CD's etc.
In my opinion Social Media and Technology rules the world and our minds.
Five years ago I hadn't given much thought into social media, I was just on it to play games and be able to message friends that didn't have enough credit on their phones. I also didn't know what I wanted to do. I would of never thought five years ago I would be doing a photography degree at University. Over the last couple of years I've been discovering just how many job sectors are within photography and media. I'm still learning. What I do know is the more I can do within the industry the more employable I become. Some areas i can already do are:
- Digital Photography
- Videography
- Film Photography
- Darkroom
- Studio
- Editing across different software
- Different areas of photography
- Product Photography
