Final Six Images & Supporting Statement

Route, Record, Repeat

Route, Record, Repeat

Living in the Cotswolds and being part of the Cotswold way, I want my audience to appreciate the more unusual aspects of things I see through my eyes using different angles and perspectives, it's not just all about Cotswold Stone, hills, and wealth.

Man-made living is all around us. It surrounds us. My work is showing the perspectives of one route walked repeatedly through my eyes, on different days and different weather conditions. By looking at this route through my eyes I hope to enlighten others to look at the world differently and to look for the little pictures in the landscape, rather than looking at it as one big picture. I always look for detail and now I hope you can too! This project has opened my eyes more to landscape photography and what it can offer.

If I did this again I would...

If I did this again I would walk maybe two or three walks around the same area. I would like to see how that could change the series, or I would take just a few photos and then re walk and take the same things again at different times over a few weeks to see how they really change.

Problems

  1. Whilst shooting my biggest problem was my camera settings, I haven't had my camera too long and I have still been getting to know my camera, this meant I went back to the Manuel that came with the camera and watched some online YouTube videos to show how to use the settings.
  2. Editing became an issue as I hadn't used Photoshop or Bridge in a while, fortunately our technician Matt helped me with some 1-2-1s which helped me use Camera RAW to edit my images easily.
  3. Sunshine, wearing my sun glasses made it hard to see my images during one shoot, this meant I couldn't really see what I was taking, it was a hope for the best sort of shoot. Luckily when i viewed the photos at home I did indeed still get some good shot but in the future I will try to go out earlier before the sun gets too bright and white washes my images.
  4. Shooting in the road, gave me some trouble because of cars and buses. I would just set up an image and I would have to move for a car, I didn't give up but this meant it took a while to get some of my images.
