People & Landscape
The final submitted project will realise its self with the following content:-
- All eight of your images will be produced as 8x10 inch C-Type images. Students choosing to print images from negatives in the darkroom, should submit on 8x10” Resin Coated Papers.
- All PDF contact sheets produced during the module together with any selection marks or notes.
- The final eight images should form a coherent narrative about your theme.
- All Final Prints to be submitted in an 8x10 Archive Print Box.
- Research blog or digital workbook, submitted on a USB drive and enclosed in your print box.
To help you with project development you will present a proposal or pitch to the class on 5th February, during which you will receive individual and group feedback; this proposal and feedback should be incorporated into your blog. The proposal should be 250-300 words in length and be submitted with a back-up plan of one sentence.
The pitch should identify the area that you intend to photograph and what evidence there is of human impact that you intend to be seen in your images.
Submission checklist:
- 8x digital C-Type or black and white resin coated 8” x 10” prints which form a coherent series of images; all images should be presented professionally in a suitable box. C-Type prints should be contained within polyester sleeves. It is expected, as reflects professional standards, that all prints are the same size and format and will have a suitable handling border of equal size on every image.
- Blog, which includes: initial ideas, project proposal, reflections on technical skills, reflection on project development including examples of photography, contact sheets etc, visual research and critical research in relation to the context of the project, and a final evaluation. Your blog should also include a ‘contextualising statement’ that includes a short introduction to the project and how the landscape has been shaped or changed by humans (300-500 words). The blog may either be submitted as a PDF document on a USB or as a link (not password protected).
- USB Stick, containing your digital workbook or link to your blog on a single page word document, together with your final eight images, sized correctly and ‘as printed’. Each image, should be correctly captioned and keyworded within the digital metadata.
